Yes -- turning off PCHs would allow this to be overcome, but testing
indicated that it would not generally be worth it (would only be
worth it in specific circumstances).
Frankly, the performance profile of Macintosh & networking hardware
has changed enough over the past year+ that it is likely about time
to re-test all of this.
