I think this is a bit different...
If I drag a file from the desktop to the app window ( without
first clicking on the desktop) the user interface *visually*
indicates that the password field is active and will accept
keystrokes, but in fact does not.
I don't think that this is appropriate behavior...
If a user sees the apps menu bar, a focus ring and flashing
cursor in a text field, what is a reasonable expectation for
typing?
Where has the focus gone?
If I click on the desktop and then drag a file from
the desktop to the app window then the finder menu
stays on top and the password dialog does not indicate
that it is active...

If I drag a file from the desktop to the app window ( without
