mlANN: Emacs on Aqua 8.0-rc2

Hi all,

[I hope this is not considered too OT..]

Some of you may be interested to know, work has been progressing on
resurrecting the original NeXTstep/OpenStep port of GNU Emacs to
work on OS X/Cocoa (and on the GNUstep open-source project as well).

http://emacs-on-aqua.sf.net

Currently, it is based on GNU Emacs-20.7, and is roughly equivalent
in stability to the Carbon-based port now in Emacs CVS while
providing better platform integration.  For example, in addition to the
standard menus and services access that the Carbon port provides,
the Cocoa font, color, and file selection panels are used, the
preferences system is utilized, and all services are made accessible
as lisp functions (prefixed with "ns-service-").

The goals of the project are first to make a final, fully stabilized
and functional 20.7-based release within the next 2-3 months, and
after that to update the port to the upcoming GNU Emacs 22 once that
branch is stabilized and released.

Both user feedback and developer help on the project are welcome.

best regards,
Adrian Robert
