One option is a database transaction/object-graph management layer
called AJRDatabase (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ajrdatabase/). It
is basically an EOF Obj-C clone if that means anything to you.
This can use PostgreSQL and handles a lot of the nastiest for you.
If nothing else if you look in the PostgreSQL adaptor inside
AJRDatabase you will see how to call PostgreSQL from Obj-C.
