Could not connect the action

hi at runtime I get

Could not connect the action autoscrollMenuAction: to target of class
NSDocumentController

.. however it's an NSDocumentController subclass. I check the
MainMenu.nib in IB and the instance is properly set as
TAODocumentController in the Custom Class pane, any idea why it isn't
'taking' ?
