There was a discussion about exact this topic on exact this list only a
week or two ago.
Regarding the EOF Obj-C frameworks installed with WO 5.x ... yes, they
are Obj-C as the modeler is still an Obj-C application. Apple engineers
didn't like the switch its self, obviously. Technically, you probably
could re-engineer the headers, but there isn't a way to deploy the
results legally, IIRC.
