Having done some GUI front ends for a Unix server application which has
been ported to OSX I get a lot of email from people who ask about
support for a certain driver.
Many folks have suggested to organise a collection through some
donation facility so that work on porting an existing open source
driver for BSD to OSX could be sponsored. The demand seems to be there
and I am happy to explore this further but I need to have an idea of
who could and would do such work and how much we will need to shoot
for.
The hardware involved is a pretty vanilla PCI modem which is used in
telephony applications on BSD and Linux. It's the driver that allows
the card to be used outside of its intended purpose.
If there is anybody with IOKit expertise who would like to consider
such a port, please contact me off-list to discuss.
