[OT] plist history?

Hi,

Does anyone knows the "historical" background of the plist format?

Things like when did it first appear? When was it first documented (if
never)? Who used it beside NeXT? And so on.

The only reference of some historical value I have found so far is some
dateless OPENSTEP documentation hosted at Sun:
