I don't know if the sound is cached anywhere or not, but you can find 
it at 
/System/Library/Components/CoreAudio.component/Contents/Resources/
SystemSounds/dock/drag to trash.aif. There's a sound by the same name 
in the folder "finder", but it's definitely not the same sound you hear 
when putting items in the trash.

This is, of course, on 10.3 - I'm not sure where you can find it in 
previous system versions.
