This is most likely caused by that file being associated with OmniWeb
instead of Safari. I tried your code on some local HTML files, and they
pointed back to BBEdit (since their type/creator points back to BBEdit)
instead of Safari.

Try pointing it to any HTTP URL. I tried setting your function's URL to
"http://www.apple.com/" and appURL pointed to Safari...
