Most stuff in vDSP works with G3's also.  It is a really, really good
set of tools that get performance that would be hard to do on your own.
  I don't know how many people have had good luck with Altivec
programming, but I find it quite challenging.  Most of the matrix stuff
that I have come up with is not nearly as good as what is in vBLAS.
