Detecting a pushed button (actually the release of the push)

I'm sure this has been asked many times before and that i;m simply 
stupid, but i couldn't get the info out of google. Too much info on 
buttons ;)

I want to detect when someone pushes my button and when he releases it. 
It is for the fast forward capability of a media player. I only want 
that to occur if someone holds the button.
