Check Syntax menu Item in Build menu in PB stays dimmed. Help please.

Now the only way I can compile any file in any project is by means of
the "Build" command or the "Build and Run"  command in PB. I am unable
to use the Check Syntax command (command key equivalent is Com-K) 
because the menu item stays dimmed and so does the compile button in
the Editor. This problem occurs in December02 Dev Tools not in the
previous version. Does any one have the same problem? I have not seen
any fellow reporting the same problem. How may I fix it so as to be
able to use the Check Syntax command again?
