In the book, there's a chapter called "Making Remote Procedure Calls
From Applications".  It shows how to construct the AppleEvents
necessary to make RPCs and interpret the reply AppleEvents.

No XML parsing necessary.  (Unless you're doing WSDL or something like that.)
