Dock Manipulation

Please forgive me, I'm just learning Cocoa. (The Big Nerd Ranch book rocks!)

I've been having difficulties locating answers in the documentation. Any
pointers to an answer in the documentation would be appreciated.

I'm trying to find how to manipulate the dock. The only Apple documentation
that mentions some methods available is in the Human Interaction guidelines.
Perhaps Dock.app itself has a programming guide? Specifically I'm trying to
make an application that can add folders to the dock. I would like to
achieve exactly what happens when the user drags a folder from the Finder,
but I'd like my application to add the folder automatically. I'm also
interested in the ability to remove folders.

Any suggestions are appreciated,
