CurrentAddress on iPad

  • I build the Apple Sample Code CurrentAddress and it works as expected.

Then I changed Build Settings → Deployment → Targeted Device Family to: iPhone/iPad.

Now I can neither zoom nor pinch not pan the displayed map in the iPad Simulator.
(It still works as expected in the iPhone Simulator)

    Why?

    Kind regards,

    Gerriet.

The window that the application creates is probably the wrong size. Assuming its still created in MainWindow.xib, its probably being created at 320x480 instead of screen size. There should be a check box in the inspector to have the window be resized when unarchived.

  • oh hold on - are you using the original iPad 'compatibility' mode where it just expands to 2x the size and is blurry on the screen instead of having an iPhone NIB and an iPad NIB and a proper dual-mode app? I think you must be, you said you only had one NIB the other day. I would suspect that's the problem, it probably just doesn't work like that.

No. When Targeted Device Family = iPhone then it will run on the iPad Simulator in 'compatibility' mode (with a choice of "2x" to increase the size and make it blurry).

But I am using: Targeted Device Family = iPhone/iPad.

The Apple Sample Code CurrentAddress has just one xib and it works perfectly on iPhone and iPad (and the respective Simulators) - once one sets: Attributes => "Fullscreen At Launch" to checked.
(Many thanks to David Duncan for this information).

No need to have multiple xibs for iPad and iPhone. (At least not for this project).
