Pinching an iPad

  • I have an app which can be pinched and zoomed on an iPhone and on the iPhone Simulator.

But it can not be zoomed or pinched on iPad or iPad Simulator.

Obviously there is some hidden switch somewhere like: AllowPinchingOnIPad = NO.

By the way: the view to be zoomed is an MKMapView.

    iOS 5.1.1 Xcode 4.3.2

    Kind regards,

    Gerriet.
  • you didn't perchance, in your iPad nib, assuming you are using a nib, accidentally uncheck the 'allows zooming' checkbox did you? Were it me I would also search my code for 'zooming' incase I'd turned it off programatically, probably whilst drunk coding.

If neither of those things, I have no ideas, it should work.

There is a nib, but it is the same for iPhone and iPad.
There is MapViewController.xib, which has (among others) an MKMapView, which has "Allows Zooming" and "AllowsScrolling" checked.

Searching for "zooming" did find nothing.

This was an iPhone project, the only thing I changed was: Build Settings → Deployment → Targeted Device Family.

Just did the usual: Clean + Clean Build Folder... in Xcode - did not help at all.

When in the Simulator, hitting the Option-key also does NOT show the two gray circles.

  • Have you turned on "Multitasking Gestures" in the iPad General Settings?
