Places to look for openpty() in OSX tiger

  • Hi,
        To build Fricas in OSX Tiger, I need to find the openpty function.
    A successful compilation on another Leopard machine indicated that openpty
    is in libutil library for Leopard. But for Tiger, the same compilation
    process failed,
    ./configure did not report openpty function. Someone in suggest me to seek
    it in libbsd by put a test program in the 'conftest.c' file:

    char openpty ();
    int
    main ()
    {
        return openpty ();
        return 0;
    }

    and run:

    gcc -o conftest -g -O2 conftest.c -lbsd

    If the above generates a.out program, then I have openpty in libbsd.
    Unfortunately, I tested it and no output file found.

    I think this is strange. Because I 'man openpty' in command line and
    it should in "util.h"....

    So, any suggestion is appreciate. I really want to run Fricas in my OSX
    tiger.

    ps: I'm with OSX-x86 Tiger 10.4.11, Xcode 2.5
