Creating multi-page quicklook thumbnails

Does anyone know how to create multi-page quicklook thumbnails? The
documentation only mentions API for multi-page previews, not for
thumbnails. However it should be possible, because the system
generators do, e.g. for PDF (as can be seen from coverflow, as well as
the way the curled page reveals the second page). I have tried using
QLThumbnailRequestSetImageWithData passing PDF, but that did not
completely failed.

There is no public API for this. I submitted a DTS request asking
for guidance in creating real multi-page previews, and was told there
was no way to do it at present, and to file an enhancement request.
I have - it's bug ID #6155052 - and it's still listed as Open in Bug
Reporter.
