Core Animation Input Responding

  • Hey guys,
    > From what I can tell from the Core Animation documentation, it is not
possible to have a layer respond to input directly.  Is it true (as in the
CovertFlow sample code), that you have to wrap all your animation in one
NSView and run all input response through that?

Pretty much. You’re can always use layer-backed views, or
alternatively, cook up some event forwarding. I built an app that uses
layers’ style dictionary to store target/action pairs for specific
events; you could also just forward the NSResponder methods where
    appropriate based on -hitTest:.
