xml-rpc / soap (dont beat me)

  • Dear List,

after a lot of research, i know that this topic has been discussed
    quite a few times,
but still i have no clue whats the actual way to go.

i have to talk to a webserver (undecided so far if xml-rpc or soap)
    from a cocoa application
    my goals are:

    - high level (no hardcore coding)
    - future proof for upcoming os version (so using supported frameworks)

but when stumbling all the mailinglist post and the developer
    documentation
all i am able to find is obscure and outdated java / carbon /
    applescript and so on stuff.

is there really no handy possibility to talk to webservices using cocoa?

sample code & tutorials greatly apreciated!

    best,

    Joeles
  • There was a Late Night Cocoa podcast that talked about web services.
It's episode #3.  You can find it on iTunes or here:

However, the conclusion was that the tools in Cocoa to do web
services are severely lacking compared to other platforms, like .Net
    or Java.

    Good luck!

There’s WebServicesCore, which has a C-based API, but could be easily
    wrapped.

If that’s the “outdated Carbon stuff” you were talking about, you may
    prefer Brent Simmons’ XML-RPC library:
